Academic Content

Singapore is among the top 3 spots in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD) global education ranking of 76 countries, based on 15-year-old students’ average scores in Mathematics and Science, and The Global Index of Cognitive Skills and Educational Attainment which compares the performance of 39 countries and 1 region (Hong Kong is used as a proxy for China due to the lack of test results at a national level) on 2 categories of education; cognitive skills and educational attainment.

Elements of the Singapore model is incorporated by the ministries of education in some countries into their own approach to teaching Mathematics and Science, including the UK which is adopting the style of teaching “Singapore Maths”, with up to £41m in funding over 4 years to train teachers and provide new textbooks.
